Some of you are praying for a baby.

But have never asked, “What’s my blood group?

    Michael was Rh-positive.
    Evelyn was Rh-negative.
And that mismatch almost cost them a child.

When Evelyn got pregnant, her joy was full —
    Until the doctors said,
“Your immune system might attack your baby.”

    That’s what happens when a Rhesus-negative woman carries a Rhesus-positive baby.
The body sees the baby’s blood as foreign and can launch an attack.

    —Miscarriage.
    —Stillbirth.
    —Brain damage.
    —Kidney failure.
    —Fetal anemia.

All possible… if you don’t know in time.

    The good news?

This CAN be prevented — with an injection called RhoGAM,
given during pregnancy and after delivery.
But only if you know you need it.

    Evelyn got it.
She gave birth to a healthy baby girl.
But only because she didn’t leave it to chance. Or “God forbid.”

Dear couples, especially those planning pregnancy:

    —Know your blood group
    —Know your Rhesus status
    —Ask questions
    —Demand answers
—Don’t spiritualize what science has explained
—Prevention is not fear — it’s wisdom

Share this with someone who’s TTC.
It could save a life before it’s even born.
