As Nigeria celebrates its 64th Independence Anniversary, the Chairman of the Delta State Taskforce on Environment, Godspower Asiuwhu, has reiterated the critical need for unity and collective efforts in nation-building. In a message to mark the occasion, Asiuwhu emphasized that Nigeria’s future hinges on the ability of its citizens to come together, despite prevailing economic and social challenges, to build a stronger and more prosperous nation.
According to Asiuwhu, Nigeria’s journey over the past six decades has been marked by triumphs and setbacks, but it is the resilience and determination of its people that will ultimately shape the nation’s destiny. He called on all Nigerians to use the opportunity of this year’s anniversary to reflect on the country’s progress and recommit themselves to the ideals of unity, peace, and progress.
Asiuwhu also took the opportunity to commend the people of Delta State for their unwavering support of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda, which centers on Meaningful development, Opportunities for all, Realistic reforms, and Enhanced peace and security. He noted that the support of Deltans has been instrumental in driving forward key initiatives aimed at fostering sustainable growth and development across the state.
“Governor Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda is a strategic framework designed to uplift the lives of all Deltans through the delivery of impactful policies and programs,” Asiuwhu said. “It is through the collective efforts and dedication of our people that we are able to see the fruits of these efforts materialize in various sectors, from infrastructure development to social welfare improvements.”
He praised the resilience of the people in the face of economic challenges, highlighting how Deltans have stood firm in supporting government initiatives aimed at enhancing living standards, creating jobs, and improving public services. Asiuwhu further underscored that the success of the MORE Agenda reflects the collective will of Deltans to drive progress and development in the state, even amidst difficult times.
Reflecting on Nigeria’s Independence Day, Asiuwhu encouraged citizens to recognize the role they each play in the larger picture of nation-building. He stressed that unity is the bedrock upon which a prosperous and peaceful nation can be built. “Nigeria is our home, and it is up to us to ensure that we continue to build it in the image of our aspirations for a better future. We must stand together, work together, and commit to the values of nationhood,” he added.
In his remarks, the Taskforce Chairman called on all Nigerians, particularly those in Delta State, to continue supporting government initiatives and working together for the common good. He expressed optimism that, with sustained unity and collective effort, Nigeria would overcome its current challenges and emerge as a stronger and more cohesive nation.
