• 2 months, 2 weeks agoThe Victor Osimhen Saga!
Osimhen wanted a move to a big league. The Saudi offer was on the table when he was pushing for PSG that didn’t materialize because Napoli couldn’t agree a deal with the French club.Chelsea wanted him in Lukaku’s deal but his wage demands stalled things and Napoli went on to sign Lukaku thinking Osimhen would be sold.
The Saudi offer was still on the table while Chelsea was pushing after the PSG breakdown. With Osimhen not considering the Saudi offer, Al Ahli went for Ivan Toney – salary lesser than Osimhen.
Toney accepted quickly and was waiting for the green light from the Saudi club. Despite Toney agreeing personal terms, the Saudi club still had interest in Osimhen, considering he’s the best between the two.
Osimhen delayed in agreeing to the offer and Ahli went on to arrange Toney’s medical on #DeadlineDay when Di Marzio reported that Osimhen had accepted the offer.
He was late and Toney was already heading for his Al Ahli medical. Chelsea sent representatives to Napoli to hurriedly close the deal with Osimhen. Osimhen rejected the wage the 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗲 club offered and Chelsea wasn’t ready to go beyond their wage bill.
According to Di Marzio, Chelsea’s offer to Osimhen revealed was €4m per season guaranteed, plus another €4m in bonuses (€2m for UCL qualification and €2m for goals and appearances).
The €4m guaranteed salary Chelsea was offering is less than half of Osimhen’s salary at Napoli. The Nigerian striker earns €10m a year at Napoli and Chelsea was offering €6m less than his current salary.
He rejected! He’s now set to stay with Napoli if nothing arrives in the next three days from Saudi Arabia. If he stays, he will not play professional football until January because he will be no longer part of Napoli’s plan.
