  • Fish from my small backyard fish farm.

This fish weighs about 800 grams in less than 3 months from stocking day.

Whoever that says that you can’t get a fish of 1kg within 3-4 months is a lie.
The success starts from the sourcing of the fingerlings, I got the fingerlings from our research farm where we hatched a batch of fries, also I…Read More

    • Of a truth there is nothing like fish growth booster in fish farming.

    • okay. Is the booster a type of feed? How expensive is it vis a vis cost of production of fish?

      • Foreign feeds are known to contain reasonable amount of crude protein, because of this they are regarded as fish growth booster. For early stage of mostly catfish (Clarias gariepinus) good feed like the foreign feeds (coppens or aller aqua) are highly recommended thereafter you can switch to Nigeria made feed like blue crown.

Another thing is that u are…Read More

    1. Inadequate knowledge before starting: most farmers set up fish farm without knowing anything abt the operation/biz at all. No knowledge Abt feeding, stocking density, sorting/grading, water management. All they want is just to buy the fish and pour into water cause they heard fish is another oil well 😁. I…Read More

    • Not knowing the market preference is another problem face by farmers. You will see farmers complaining Abt not seeing buyers to buy there fish. Most of this farmers rear fish up to 2kg and above whereas for example what the buyers want is fish ranging from 0.8kg to 1.5kg.
