In 1886, the world tasted Coca-Cola for the first time. The thick and flavorful syrup was created by John Stith Pemberton in Atlanta, originally intended as a medicinal tonic that not only relieved pain but also boosted energy and improved mood. The original formula contained two key ingredients: coca leaves, which were used to produce cocaine, and caffeine extracted from the tropical kola nut.

I just learned that Coca Cola used to contain coca leaves, which is where the cocaine comes from. shuo, I am glad they removed it from the formula, but it is still interesting to think about the history behind the brand.
