A man slaughtered a big cow, lit the grill, and told his daughter:

“Daughter, call our relatives, friends, and neighbors to come eat with us. Let’s have a feast!”

His daughter went out into the street and shouted:

“Please help us put out a fire at my dad’s house!”

After a while, only a small group of people came to help. The rest acted like they didn’t hear her call for help.

The few who came stayed, ate, and drank until late.

The father, surprised, turned to his daughter and said:

“I barely know these people. Some of them I’ve never seen before. Where are our relatives, friends, and neighbors?”

The daughter replied:

“The ones who came weren’t here for the party—they came because they thought we needed help. These are the people who deserve our kindness and hospitality.”

Lesson:
The people who don’t help you in tough times shouldn’t be the ones celebrating with you in your success.
