Is it true that some women don’t have womb? Yes, it is true that some women are born without a womb, a condition known as Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser (MRKH) syndrome.
♧ This is a rare genetic disorder that affects about 1 in 4,500 women.
Women with MRKH syndrome may have:
1. Vaginal agenesis (no vagina) or a very short vagina
2. Uterine agenesis (no uterus) or a very small uterus
3. Absence or abnormalities of the cervix, fallopian tubes, and ovaries
However, it’s important to note that:
1. Many women with MRKH syndrome have normal ovarian function and can produce eggs.
2. Some may have a functioning vagina, but it may be shorter or narrower than average.
3. Surrogacy, adoption, and other reproductive options are available for women with MRKH syndrome who wish to become mothers.
4. Additionally, some women may have a condition called uterine didelphys, where they are born with two separate uteruses, or a unicornuate uterus, where they have only half of a uterus.
Bottomline
It’s essential to remember that every woman’s body is unique, and variations in reproductive anatomy are more common than you might think!
