Ranching in Africa includes cattle ranching, game ranching, and other types of farming:

    Cattle ranching
A major part of the economy in sub-Saharan Africa, cattle ranching is used to supply milk and meat, and to create manure for farming. Ranches can be communal, state-led, or state-owned. However, in some areas, land for ranching is becoming scarce, and herders face opposition from civil society.

    Game ranching
The scientific management of wild animals in their natural habitats. Game ranching is most developed in southern Africa, but the Galana Ranch in Kenya was established in the 1970s. Game ranching could help meet Africa’s demand for protein, and it also has conservation benefits. However, South Africa struggles to manage wildlife ranching due to a lack of consensus among government departments.

    Other types of farming
Africa produces a variety of crops, including:
Beverage crops: Tea, coffee, cocoa, and grapes are all grown in Africa.

Fibers: Cotton is grown in large areas of Africa, and sisal is produced in eastern Africa, Mozambique, Angola, and South Africa.

Other cash crops: Oil palm, coconuts, and kenaf are also grown in Africa.

Grains: Corn, wheat, millet, and rice are among the most profitable plants to cultivate.
