American human rights activist, Alhaji Malik El Shabazz aka Malcolm X (1925 – 1965 ) toured Africa making a stop in Nigeria to speak at the University of Ibadan in 1964. After his speech he was bestowed the name “Omowale” -“the son who has come home” by the Nigerian Students Association. He was later to call this his most treasured honour.
