GOVERNOR OBOREVWORI IS DEVELOPING ALL PARTS OF DELTA; EMPOWERING DELTANS

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff Oborevwori’s determination to continue to ensure even development of all parts of the State including riverine communities, which he has consistently stated were very dear to his administration and will not be abandoned in his developmental trajectory for the State, manifested once again when he inaugurated Model Secondary School, Ogulagha, Burutu Local Government Area of the State and commissioned the Faculty Building and Lecture Halls at the Nigerian Maritime University, Okerenkoko in Warri South-West Local Government Area of the State.

Both projects, which are in line with the Meaningful Development Component of the MORE Agenda, will not only ensure that some of the children in the riverine communities will not be denied the benefit of quality secondary education, but will also provide an excellent platform to produce graduates with unique skill sets, knowledge, and capacity to revolutionize Nigeria’s vast maritime sector, with the strong potentials for urbanization, while creating employment and retail business opportunities in the host community and environs. Governor Oborevwori has also approved the rehabilitation/reconstruction of the 12.1 kilometre Odimodi-Okuntu-Ogulagha Road at a total cost of N5.2b, as well as given immediate approval for the construction of road to the Maritime University’s permanent site.

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, in his avowed commitment to meet the Sustainable Agricultural Sector Reforms initiative encapsulated in the Realistic Reforms component of the M.O.R.E Agenda, has not only empowered over 6,000 farmers with agricultural inputs to boost agricultural production in the State, he has also ensured the distribution of fertilizers to farmers across the 25 Local Government Areas of the State, thereby boosting agricultural productivity and ensuring food security for Deltans. Not only that, the Governor he has also equally continued to ramp up the empowerment of more Deltans with the Delta State Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus, D-CARES, from which 97,365 persons benefitted recently, bringing the tally of beneficiaries of the D-CARES programme to the grand total of over 208,000. This is in addition to the expanded focus on Agriculture under the Result Area 2 – FADAMA (Food Security) of the D-CARES scheme and also released One Billion Naira counterpart funding for the Africa Union Development Agency, New Partnership for African Development (AUDA NEPAD), to empower 2,000 farmers for food production, livestock and aquaculture.

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, in furtherance of the numerous initiatives already instituted in his commitment to galvanize a more robust health sector, has also approved the establishment of a College of Medical Sciences at the Delta State University of Science and Technology (DSUST) in Ozoro, a development which will not only enhance medical education in the region, but will most importantly, strengthen healthcare education and provide more opportunities for students pursuing medical careers within Delta State.

There is no doubt that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is steadily and systematically Advancing Delta in all sectors and across the three Senatorial zones in the State, with the MORE Agenda.

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is working and Deltans are seeing it.

    Signed:

    Dr. Ifeanyi M. Osuoza,
    Hon. Commissioner for Information,
    Delta State.
