Dear All,

I am directed to inform us all that there have been confirmed outbreak of Lassa fever disease in the following locations;
1. Oshimili North (Okpanam)
2. Oshimili South (Asaba)
3. Warri South (Warri)
4. Ndokwa East (Aboh)

*Members from the above listed divisions are advised to please report any case suspected to be Lassa fever disease to the Health & Care Officer of the Branch or the BS, or to any close health facility!!*

A case fatality ratio (CFR) of 50% has been observed as 2 out of the 4 confirmed cases have died.

In view of the above, we are advised to have a high index of suspicion and to observe caution while in these locations.

Report any case suspected to be Lassa fever clinical manifestations to the nearest health facility. If the case suspected is your relation or friend, kindly refer them to the nearest health facility close to you.

Frequent hand hygiene and Physical distancing is advised at this time especially at large gatherings.

Ensure that children do not play with rodents whether dead or alive.

Also ensure that meals are properly cooked and eaten hot. Please do not leave ur pots of food open to cool..🙏

*Discourage indiscriminate disposal of wastes near homes as rodents use it as avenue to infest homes and with them Lassa fever infection.*
