In Nigeria, a significant percentage of the population is diagnosed with either typhoid fever or malaria. Well for your information, there is a typhoid vaccine. The CDC recommends the typhoid vaccine for adults traveling to Nigeria. The vaccine is recommended when traveling outside of areas typically visited by tourists.
There is also an oral form of typhoid vaccine in addition to the plolysaccharide vaccine delivered intramuscular. The typhoid vaccine involves taking one capsule every other day for a total of four capsules. The last dose should be taken at least one week before travel. Each capsule should be swallowed whole, about an hour before meals with cold or lukewarm water. A booster vaccine is needed every five years for people who remain at risk.
The typhoid vaccine can reduce the need for antibiotics, slow the expansion of drug-resistant strains, and save lives.
